Saint Romanos wanted to sing to God, but his voice was not very good.  The Theotokos came to him and told him to eat a scroll that she was holding.  He ate the scroll, and went into the church for the all-night Christmas service.  He began to sing a beautiful hymn that he wrote about Christmas.  All the others were amazed at his beautiful singing.  He wrote many other hymns for our Church.
